The Verkhovna Rada adopted Law No. 8450 on information for consumers on food products, which will be enacted on August 6, 2019.
The adoption of this document will contribute to the harmonization of Ukrainian legislation with EU legislation and the fulfillment of Ukraine’s obligations in the field of sanitary and phytosanitary measures under the Association Agreement.
This law applies to all operators of the food industry market that are involved at any stage of the food chain, if their products are intended for the end consumer, sold independently or supplied to shops or catering establishments.
The law provides clarifications on font size, background and mandatory information on the label. The responsibility of the market operator for misleading consumers is also introduced.
Law No. 8450 on information for consumers on food products We especially recommend that you pay attention to the fact that from now on, market operators are prohibited from circulating food products obtained from facilities that have not passed state registration of enterprises, and/or using such food products in the production of other food products.
